Equipment

  • 8-ounce container with lid

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup old fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup almond milk
  • 2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons evaporated milk
  • 1/2 banana, (sliced)
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts

Instructions

  • Add the oats, almond milk, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, sliced banana, cinnamon, and chopped walnuts to a small container that holds at least 8 ounces. The container needs a little headspace since the oats will swell as they absorb the liquid.
  • Seal the container and shake until the milk, oats, and banana are well combined. The mixture will look fairly loose at this stage, and that is exactly what you want before chilling.
  • Refrigerate overnight, then serve with extra banana slices, cinnamon, and chopped walnuts if desired. By morning, the oats should be thick and creamy, holding their shape on a spoon.

Notes

Best Oats for Texture: For a creamy yet chewy result, use old-fashioned rolled oats. Quick oats can become mushy, and steel-cut oats won't soften enough with this method.
Soaking Time: For the creamiest texture, allow the oats to soak for at least 6 hours in the refrigerator.
Serving Tip: Add crunchy toppings like walnuts just before serving to ensure they stay crisp.
