Ingredients

  • 0.5 cup tart cherry juice
  • 0.5-1 tsp magnesium powder
  • 1 tsp elderberry syrup
  • 1 cup sparkling water
  • ice cubes

Instructions

Build the infused base

  • Warm the tart cherry juice just enough to help it open up, then steep a chamomile tea bag or a small pinch of loose chamomile flowers with a thin slice of fresh ginger and a tiny pinch of sea salt. Let it sit briefly until the juice smells floral and lightly spicy, then cool it before moving on.
  • Strain out the solids if needed, then pour the infused cherry juice into a glass. Add the magnesium powder and stir vigorously until the powder disappears completely and the liquid looks smooth, not dusty or grainy.

Sweeten and chill

  • If you are using the elderberry syrup, stir it in now so it blends evenly into the cherry base. The color should deepen slightly and the aroma will turn fruitier.
  • Add ice cubes until the glass is about halfway full. A larger cube melts more slowly, which keeps the mocktail cold without watering down the flavor too quickly.

Finish with sparkle

  • Slowly pour the sparkling water over the ice and cherry mixture. You want a gentle rise of bubbles, not an aggressive foam, so take your time.
  • Give the drink one soft stir to combine everything without flattening the fizz. When the mocktail looks rosy, bubbly, and clear, it is ready to sip right away.

Notes

Timing Tip: Drink the mocktail about 45 to 60 minutes before bed so the sleep-inducing ingredients have time to settle in and support your nighttime routine.
Mixing Technique: Always whisk or stir the magnesium into the flat cherry base before adding carbonation. Pouring magnesium powder straight into sparkling water almost always causes dramatic foaming.
Ingredient Choice: Choose Magnesium glycinate, or a blend with L-theanine and GABA, if your goal is relaxation. Avoid Magnesium Citrate, which is more likely to act on digestion than support a restful evening.
Make-Ahead Storage: You can mix the infused tart cherry juice, magnesium, and elderberry syrup ahead of time and store the concentrate in an airtight jar in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Wait to add the sparkling water and ice until the moment you plan to drink it.
