Reindeer Food Recipe
Make festive magic reindeer food with uncooked oats, colorful sugar sprinkles, and holiday gift tags. This easy, no-cook craft creates a sparkling Christmas Eve lawn tradition without craft glitter.

Ingredients
- Raw uncooked oats

Instructions
- Add 3 to 4 tablespoons of raw uncooked oats to each plastic bag. Leave enough empty space at the top for the oats to tumble when the bag is moved.
- Scatter 1 to 2 tablespoons of sugar cookie sprinkles over the oats. The color should sit in bright little pockets across the oat base.
- Use iridescent sprinkles, red and green sprinkles, or fine sanding sugar as desired. Keep red and green sugar from being worked together too hard so the colors stay clear rather than turning brown.
- Seal the bag with festive ribbon, then give it a gentle shake to combine. Stop when the sprinkles look evenly spread and the oats still look whole.
- For a zipper-top bag, make a small hole in one top corner and thread the ribbon through it. Keep the hole above the zipper seal so the bag remains closed and the contents stay inside.
- Write or print the poem on paper or cardstock, then attach the tag to the ribbon. Make sure the tag hangs freely and does not pull open the bag closure.
- After putting out milk and cookies for Santa, take the mix outdoors and scatter it over snow or the lawn. Use a light, wide sprinkle so the oats do not land in one heavy pile.
Notes
Color tip: Keep red and green sanding sugars separate until a final gentle shake, as vigorous mixing can crush them together and turn the blend a dull brown.
Storage: Assemble the bags close to your event and store them sealed in an airtight container away from humidity to prevent the sugar crystals from clumping.
Outdoor scattering: Scatter the mix lightly across an open patch of lawn or snow instead of dumping it in a single heavy pile near walkways.
