Equipment

  • Blender

Ingredients

  • 2 cups rice milk (500ml)
  • 2 cups almond milk (500ml)
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon matcha green tea powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch sea salt small
  • Ice to serve
  • Ground cinnamon to serve

Instructions

  • Pour the rice milk and almond milk into a blender, then add the sugar, matcha, cinnamon, vanilla, and sea salt. Blend until the mixture looks fully combined and smooth, with no visible specks of matcha or cinnamon sitting on the surface.
  • Taste the horchata, add more sugar only if you want it sweeter, then pour it over ice and finish with ground cinnamon. The flavor should taste balanced before serving, with creamy sweetness up front and a soft earthy matcha finish.

Notes

Texture Tip: For the smoothest drink, whisk your matcha with a small amount of hot water to form a paste before adding it to the blender. This simple step prevents clumps.
Serving Tip: To create a beautiful layered look, pour the finished horchata over ice first. Then, slowly pour the prepared matcha over the back of a spoon to float it on top.
Storage: Store any leftovers in a covered container in the refrigerator. The horchata will naturally separate, so be sure to shake or stir it well before serving again.
