Ingredients

  • 1 box Kodiak Chocolate Chip Protein Ball Mix
  • 1/2 cup nut or seed butter (ex: peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter, sunflower seed butter)
  • 1/3 cup liquid sweetener (ex: honey, maple syrup, agave, date syrup)
  • 1/4 cup water or other liquid (ex: applesauce, fruit juice, yogurt, mashed banana)
  • 1/2 crushed pretzels or granola
  • 1/2 cup combination of nuts, seed, dried fruit, coconut, or any similar dried goods on hand

Instructions

Mix the Dough

  • Add the Kodiak mix, nut or seed butter, liquid sweetener, liquid, crushed pretzels or granola, and your extra mix-ins to a mixing bowl.
  • Stir everything together by hand until no dry pockets remain and the mixture looks thick, sticky, and evenly combined. Add up to 2 tablespoons more high-protein liquid if it still feels too dry to hold together.

Rest and Roll

  • Let the dough sit for exactly 5 minutes so the whole grain oats can absorb the moisture. This short rest makes a big difference, allowing the mixture to become easier to shape and much less crumbly.
  • Portion the dough into 12 even pieces and roll them into balls with lightly damp hands or a cookie scoop.
  • Optional: Sprinkle on a tiny pinch of flaky sea salt before rolling, then coat the outside in extra coconut flakes for a sweet, toasty finish.

Chill Until Set

  • Transfer the finished balls to the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving. Once chilled, they firm up into chewy, hearty energy bites that hold their shape beautifully.

Notes

Preparation Tip: Stir natural peanut butter very well before measuring to prevent the dough from turning greasy in spots and dry in others.
Banana Bread Variation: Use mashed banana, walnuts, almond butter, and maple syrup for a softer, cozy flavor that tastes like a bakery muffin.
Almond Joy Variation: Mix in dates, almond butter, and shredded coconut, then finish with a dark chocolate drizzle for a sweet candy-bar style snack.
Portioning Tip: Use a cookie scoop for clean, even portions. It makes rolling faster and gives you uniform bites for meal prep containers.
Storage Tip: Store the finished protein balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. For longer storage, freeze them in a single layer until solid, then transfer to a freezer-safe bag for up to 2 months.
