Equipment

  • Milk frother or mason jar
  • Mug or tall glass

Ingredients

To make a hot Gingerbread latte:

  • ½ cup strong coffee or espresso
  • 2 tablespoon Gingerbread Syrup
  • ½ cup hot milk

To make an iced Gingerbread latte:

  • ice cubes
  • ½ cup cold brew concentrate
  • 2 tablespoon Gingerbread Syrup
  • ½ cup milk or half and half

Optional toppings:

  • whipped cream
  • pumpkin pie spice
  • gingerbread sprinkles

Instructions

Build the hot coffee base

  • Warm your mug first if you can, then pour in the hot strong coffee or espresso and the Gingerbread Syrup. Stir until the syrup disappears and the coffee looks glossy and evenly tinted, not streaky.
  • Pause for a quick smell check, it should hit you with warm, spicy sweetness right away, like opening a fresh gingerbread cookie tin.

Froth the milk with the secret twist

  • Before you steam or froth, stir a dash of vanilla extract and a tiny pinch of sea salt into your milk. This is the little café trick that makes the spices taste deep and balanced, not sharp.
  • Heat the milk until it’s hot and steamy, but not boiling, then froth until it looks silky with fine bubbles, like wet paint, not big soap suds.

Assemble and finish

  • Pour the steamed milk over the syrup-coffee mixture, holding back foam if you want a layered look, then spoon the foam on top.
  • Finish with whipped cream if you like, then dust with pumpkin pie spice or gingerbread sprinkles for that snowy, coffeehouse feel. Sip right away while it’s warm, spicy, sweet, rich, and creamy.

For an iced gingerbread latte

  • Fill a tall glass with ice cubes, then add the cold brew concentrate and Gingerbread Syrup. Stir until the syrup fully dissolves and the drink looks uniform, not striped at the bottom.
  • Pour in milk or half and half to taste, then top with whipped cream and sprinkles if you’re feeling festive. The result should be cold, fragrant, and dessert-like without tasting heavy.

Notes

Frothing Without Equipment: If you do not have a milk frother, you can warm the milk gently on the stove and whisk briskly, or shake it in a tightly sealed mason jar until bubbly.
Temperature Control: Avoid boiling the milk on the stove. Excessive heat causes dairy proteins to separate, resulting in a thin or grainy texture instead of creamy.
Flavor Balance Trick: Adding a dash of vanilla extract and a tiny pinch of sea salt to your milk before frothing rounds out the sharp spices and suppresses bitterness for a smoother latte.
Storage Tips: This latte is best enjoyed immediately. To prep ahead, store the brewed coffee and milk separately in the refrigerator and combine them when ready to drink.
